The story is, that she's getting married, and she has a baby flower girl that she also wanted to have a flower. The colours match the bride's bouquet. Isn't that just adorable?

Year of Project 3 - Wrap Up

Yes, I know.. I'm very very late... But I wanted to do a wrap up of YOP3 before starting on year 4.. Even if it's only for me..

I started with YoP3 very late too! The year always starts in July, but I joined in October (do we see a pattern here people?) I had so much fun putting together a list, trying to follow my list, and of course starting LOTS of projects that were not on my list.. A quick looksie into my finished projects:

FO Friday with a Colorful Caterpillar!

Hi guys! I started this project a few weeks ago, on a rainy, grey day and I needed some color..

Hey! Met dit project ben ik een paar weken geleden begonnen, op een grijze en regenachtige dag, toen ik behoefte had aan kleur..

 

It all started with some colorful crochet balls, with no real purpose but to brighten up my day.

Today, it's Cody the Caterpillar!

 

Het begon allemaal met een paar gehaakte balletjes, zonder een specifiek doel, behalve om mijn dag wat vrolijker te maken.. Maar vandaag is het Cody de Rups!

Short YoP Update

Hello! This will be a very short update since I don't have too much progress to show.. Of my YoP list items I only worked on Sweet Scarf of Mine.

It's nearly finished and I really like the randomness of the stripes.. I only have to finish the tassels/fringe to it. I already finished on one side, but I think they're too short. So I'll have to redo them. I'm excited that I can almost wear it!

Other than that, I released a pattern this week! It's called Fish Candy, it's  a really simple and easy pattern, but I really loved making/designing something amigurumi-like! I'd love to try to continue making my own patterns..

Hey Cuties!

Hey Cuties! That's the name of this FO:

These cuties were not on my YoP list, but when I saw the pattern I knew I just had to make one. And when I finished the first pink cutie, I just had to make another one! So there they are, a couple of cuties.. I'm curious how they're both made with the same hook and yarn, yet the green cutie is slightly smaller/shorter than the pink one.. Is it the stuffing then?

I have also been experimenting with knitting stripes without needing to cut the yarn every time I change color. There are probably lots of tutorials out there but I wanted to see if I could figure it out myself.. I think I ripped it out 3times now before starting over and trying a new method, but I think that this fourth try is very close to what I had in mind! I want to make a scarf out of it. I'm dubbing it "Sweet Scarf of Mine". But again, this was not on my YoP-list!

 

I'm determined to also work on my YoP-list-projects this week. In fact, I've started on Wiener Dog yesterday. I'm calling him Wags... I haven't made pictures of him yet because there's not much special to see yet...

I also took the Microwavable bag out of my WIP basket.. I unravelled a bit because I decided I wanted to mix in a different color..  I wrote a post a while ago about different yarns, linings and fillings for hot/cold packs, and I'm excited to try different fillings I haven't tried before..

FO Friday - A Bunny!

I finally did it! I assembled the pieces of the long lost (hibernating) amigurumi and finished it!

WiP WednesDay!

Happy Wednesday! I'm so happy we're halfway through the week. Last couple of days have been a bit chaotic and I'm hopeful that from tomorrow, life will be a bit more mellow..

Since I last blogged about my "beanie-block", I decided to just give it a go. I just picked a pattern and I started hooking! And with some bulky yarn and a 10mm hook, it's working up fast!

 

Sorry about the blank-face pic, but I really didn't like the ones where I was smiling.. Let's move on quickly!

My neighbour gave me this lovely booklet with cute mini crochet patterns, sweet huh? The title of the book is 'Crochet mini dogs and cats' and as I quickly started hooking, I realised that they weren't kidding with the term "mini"! The body of the cat-to-be in the picture is about 3cm. Teenie!

 

In other news, fiance had given me an incredible lovely set of dishes for my birthday last week.

And... he managed to break one plate almost immediately! Poor plate..

 

 

I told him not to throw away any of the pieces, since I heard about Kintsugi sometime in 2013... Kintsugi is the japanese art of "repairing with gold to create a perfectly imperfect piece of beauty." Here's an example I found on the internet:

 

"By messy mending you emphasise the marks and scars of a product giving it a new perspective and beauty while offer it longevity"

 

 

I am so going to do this with my plate! It'll be my way to say "Perfect is overrated" to myself, or "love yourself despite your flaws" whilst crafting and having fun.. Yea!

Floating between winter and spring...

Does anyone else have that feeling that, on the one hand you're still enjoying Winter but on the other hand you wouldn't mind if Spring would come along? I'm still loving the scarfs, mittens, boots, sweaters and hot chocolate, but I would love to see the trees and flowers grow and sprout, and have baby bunnies and ducklings roaming around again!

Last week I summoned up the courage to start another pillowcase project, and I found a pattern that would hopefully match better with the Chevron Winter blanket.. I figured if I didn't start soon, I'd postpone it untill next winter.. So here's the progress so far...

I'm positive this will be a better match than the Puzzly Pillow I frogged 2weeks ago, though it's coming out much smaller than I'd imagined so I might have to be creative how it'll fit around a pillow.. I might have to make another square or sew the back? Anybody have ideas?

I finished the granny blanket last week as well! I just love how easy and fast those granny blankets work up! I especially liked this color combo, it really reminded me of Spring! (and some of you guys too! Yay!) 

 

So since then I've been in the 'Spring-mood' so to speak.. I want flowers in the house and Spring cleaning and colors and singing birds and all that! Then again, am I ready to not snuggle up under a blanket? Am I ready to not put on boots and not drink hot chocolates? Mmmmmmm...

Bonjour mes amis! I just completed Baby Koizumi and Mommy and I am really excited to share!

 

 

Koizumi means "little spring" in Japanese.

 

 

Baby Koizumi and Mommy like to snuggle inside when the weather is cold. They like sitting on and reading old books. "It will make you wise" Mommy says.

 

 

When I first followed the original pattern (here!) I got the baby-sized owlet which I thought was amazingly cute, but I also wanted a bigger sized owl. So I improvised a bit and voilá! There was mommy! (she's about 20cm high) Have you ever 'supersized' a from pattern?

Little Miss Impulse

Hey everybody! Hope you're having a great weekend! I'm not really sure what happened this week, but somehow, since last week, I made:

 She was already liking it before it was done!

She's so happy with it, first she plays with it,

Then she sleeps in it!

And last but not least, I started making beanies for Christmas presents..

All of which were not on my YoP list! Which makes me an.. impulse crocheter? I'm not sure whether that's the right term, but it's safe to say that I've not been sticking to my plan.. And I'm also a bit worried.. How much kitty-stuff does one need to crochet before being labeled 'crazy catlady'?

Well anyhow, I've decided to "cancel" giving Hot Packs as Christmas presents since fiance very wisely asked: "are we truly going to spend a lot of money shipping a lot of rice to the other side of the world?" As annoyed as I was with him (being a wiseass) at that moment, he did have a point, since we have to pay more as the weight of the package increases. So I have to start thinking about other alternatives as Christmas presents, hence the beanies! Anybody else any fun suggestions for Christmas presents?

Catnip Ball and it's friend!

My friend has some adorable cats! I decided to make some catnip toys for her.. I had never made anything like it, so it was kind of an experiment! I just took my crochet hooks, used this pattern and when stuffing it I put some catnip (which I stole from her!) inside as well!



I made several sizes since, and gave the toys to her.

She then sent me this video of how one of her furry babies reacted to it!

I get so happy looking at him! It makes me want to make a catnip toy for all kitties I know! Have you ever made catnip toys? What pattern is your favourite?

The other day I made this cotton candy bally for a friend of mine:

But I never dared to expect such a lovely reaction from her. She said nothing at first but just gave me the biggest hug! So sweet! Isn´t life sweet? I think it is!
