FO Friday - A Bunny!

I finally did it! I assembled the pieces of the long lost (hibernating) amigurumi and finished it!
Without further ado, I would like to introduce you to Tinkerbunny!

I think she's one sassy lady! More pictures here! Have a lovely weekend!

WiP WednesDay!

Happy Wednesday! I'm so happy we're halfway through the week. Last couple of days have been a bit chaotic and I'm hopeful that from tomorrow, life will be a bit more mellow..

Since I last blogged about my "beanie-block", I decided to just give it a go. I just picked a pattern and I started hooking! And with some bulky yarn and a 10mm hook, it's working up fast!

Sorry about the blank-face pic, but I really didn't like the ones where I was smiling.. Let's move on quickly!

My neighbour gave me this lovely booklet with cute mini crochet patterns, sweet huh? The title of the book is 'Crochet mini dogs and cats' and as I quickly started hooking, I realised that they weren't kidding with the term "mini"! The body of the cat-to-be in the picture is about 3cm. Teenie!

In other news, fiance had given me an incredible lovely set of dishes for my birthday last week.
And... he managed to break one plate almost immediately! Poor plate..

I told him not to throw away any of the pieces, since I heard about Kintsugi sometime in 2013... Kintsugi is the japanese art of "repairing with gold to create a perfectly imperfect piece of beauty." Here's an example I found on the internet:

"By messy mending you emphasise the marks and scars of a product giving it a new perspective and beauty while offer it longevity"

I am so going to do this with my plate! It'll be my way to say "Perfect is overrated" to myself, or "love yourself despite your flaws" whilst crafting and having fun.. Yea!

Basketweave and Beanie Block

Hello! And happy Sunday to you! I don't have much to show you this week, since I've mostly spent my days scrapbooking..

I worked a bit on my Chevron Winter Pillow, but I didn't bother taking a picture since there wasn't much difference to see.. I did however start with the knitting version of the basketweave stitch! It's one of the many stitches I wanted to learn.

It's kind of hard to see because of the yarncolor.. Sorry about that! I think I'm getting the hang of it, though I'm still experimenting (numbers of rows before switching, if that makes sense?) to see what kind of look I like. I have to say though, to me it does look very different from the crocheted version of the basketweave:

Other than that I used a candy corn crochet pattern to make some cat-toys with some left-over yarn for the animal shelter.

I do hope the cats at the shelter will like it, my kitten Nala is not interested in these... She just loves to play with the yarn, just like her mommy. (litterally, she just steals the yarn when I'm not looking!)

I'd really love to make myself (or at least start) a beanie next week. I have been wanting to start making a beanie for a while now, but I just can't decide which pattern and which color(s)! Do I have "beanie block"?

Floating between winter and spring...

Does anyone else have that feeling that, on the one hand you're still enjoying Winter but on the other hand you wouldn't mind if Spring would come along? I'm still loving the scarfs, mittens, boots, sweaters and hot chocolate, but I would love to see the trees and flowers grow and sprout, and have baby bunnies and ducklings roaming around again!

Last week I summoned up the courage to start another pillowcase project, and I found a pattern that would hopefully match better with the Chevron Winter blanket.. I figured if I didn't start soon, I'd postpone it untill next winter.. So here's the progress so far...

I'm positive this will be a better match than the Puzzly Pillow I frogged 2weeks ago, though it's coming out much smaller than I'd imagined so I might have to be creative how it'll fit around a pillow.. I might have to make another square or sew the back? Anybody have ideas?

I finished the granny blanket last week as well! I just love how easy and fast those granny blankets work up! I especially liked this color combo, it really reminded me of Spring! (and some of you guys too! Yay!)

So since then I've been in the 'Spring-mood' so to speak.. I want flowers in the house and Spring cleaning and colors and singing birds and all that! Then again, am I ready to not snuggle up under a blanket? Am I ready to not put on boots and not drink hot chocolates? Mmmmmmm...

Why Not?

Happy Sunday! How was your week? I've had a bit of a surprising, lovely week, actually! I'm a bit hesitant by nature, so surprises - or anything unplanned for that matter - don't always work that well with me. But this week, with every new 'adventure' I was like, "why not?" and "let's try that!" I tried new recipes (for example, a combination of these two 'White Chili Recipes' 12), I met new people, went places I haven't gone before! I felt... free! ....I found this drawing that pretty much sums it up..

As for the YoP, I first have to share the adorable picture of my nephews wearing the Christmas Present Beanies I made and shipped to Canada.. I think they look just adorable!

And after last weeks' pillowcase 'failure', I decided not to try another pillow project...  What I did was finally, finally finish my Lulu Retro Headband! Yay!

I really love that it's crocheted in one piece, and the youtube video on how to put it together is really clear! I might make a knitted version as well!

I also tried making my own 'DIY yarn bowl', an idea I picked up - I believe - at one of the YoP participants' blogs! Essentially, you need a bowl + a binder clip.. How fun!

The project underneath the yarn bowl is a last-minute granny blanket I'm making. I'm using stash yarn and donate the blanket to the animal shelter. Another project not on my original YoP list, surprise surprise!

I hope this week I'll be able to start on a beanie/hat on my YoP list. The forecast predicts some cold weather, so I really could use something nice and warm!

Update YoP list here!

Out with the old!

Hi everyone! How's this year treating you so far? I've been obsessed with cleaning, organizing.. and some more cleaning this week! So I didn't spend much time on crafting, or is frogging/taking out projects also crafting? It feels like un-crafting to me somehow. But I felt it was a necessary part of the organizing and getting rid of clutter!

I did start on a pillow cover with left-over yarn from my Chevron Winter Blanket, which looks like this:

I thought I'd stash-bust by making a matching pillow cover. I picked out this pattern and this is my progress so far:

Looking at the picture, I'm not sure I very much like it! I thought it'd be nice to have a (colorwise) matching pillow, but that it wasn't really necessary to match patternwise... Again, looking at the picture, I'm not convinced I'll love this pillow as much as I love the blanket! Sigh... there we go again! ;-)
