My first 3rd Year of Projects post!

Happy Sunday everyone! I´ve summoned up the courage to start and join mid-year in Year Of Projects! And this is my first post this year! Hurray! ...in my enthusiasm I started multiple projects of my list! So of course I have a lot of WIPS to show!

The projects I started:

Rice Hot Pack: So far very easy and fun to make, and quick to work up! I think I'll make a bunch of these as Christmas presents for my family in Canada (where the temperature can drop to -20°C during the day in winter, and even -40°C at night, yikes!) since they can be heated up in the microwave! free pattern here!

Katy Cowl: This one I started in September already, but I've made some more progress and I'm almost finished! I still have to sew together and weave in ends!

Practising the star stitch! Used this pattern and this video to get it right, but I'm making a blanket instead of pot holders, because a) since it's a bigger project, I can practise the stitch more, b) I can use up some left-over yarn, and c) I can donate a snuggle to the animal shelter nearby!

Crochet Fingerless Mittens: I think I'm about half-way through on the first one! I'm not sure whether this will be a present to myself or a present for a friend.. Anyhow, with the weather getting colder, I'd better hurry up finishing these!

There you have it! That's what I've been working on this week. Hope you all have a lovely week!

  2. Hi Lily! I usually post but I got a new pc and I'm not fully functional yet so I haven't been able to post since last Sunday! Dang! I love your projects and I am a better crocheter than knitter by far! I "faved" your rice pillow...you're right...nice for presents. I also like the stitch you're practicing. Keep coming back as everyone is really supportive but they're always making me add things to my list!LOL!

  3. Welcome to the group. I'm very interested in your rice packs. Can you give more detail? Is the rice inside something inside the crocheted pouch? Do you use white or long grain rice? Sounds like a great idea for Christmas presents. Right now my neck could use one. lol

  5. Welcome to our Year of Projects group. It's so nice to see all your lovely photos - scrolling up and down it's like a rainbow! I might have to make one of those rice packs for myself - which reminds me, I promised Gavin a soap sack too which could be adapted from the rice pack pattern :)

  7. Hi Ruth of mysparemoments.com! Thanks for dropping by and being so sweet! I'm going to drop by your blog right now to see your projects!

Sam I Am I'm like you, my knitting skills aren't that good plus I'm not Always as patient when it comes to knitting! Thanks for your kind words!

Hi Sandy! I used long rice and put it in a nylon which I knotted, turned inside out and pulled through a second time. But since I really want to make some as gifts, I'll research some more what would be the best filling and inside.. When I know more I'll probably blog a post about it ;-)

Minding My own stitches: I Always love your knitting projects! Thanks for your sweet comments! I think a soap sack would be great as a gift too! Now you've made me curious about those too! :)
